Whole Foods
Whole Foods is the world's leading retailer of natural and
organic foods. Their connection through social media to their consumers begins
at their website. Their website is great. It is bright and attractive and makes
me want to visit a store. It contains links to recipes, tips on grilling,
preparing summer meals on the go, cooking videos, store coupons and a blog for
feedback and questions. I may make the ham & rhubarb jam toasties tonight
they look delicious! There is even a link that gives suggestions for the best
wines to purchase under $20.00.
However, Whole Foods is very expensive for the average
consumer and they could do more to appeal to them. I don't shop there
regularly, as a matter of fact I don’t know anyone who does, but when I want to
splurge on healthy groceries or if I’m looking for herb or vegetable that I am
unable to find anywhere else, I head to Whole Foods and I am rarely
disappointed.
I applaud them for using Google+ and Google Maps technology that
aids with step-by-step directions when you want to find a way to get to one of
their store locations. They have created a media campaign on YouTube and you
can find many of the recipes from their site posted there as well.
Recently they received some unexpected advertising from
Ellen DeGeneres who spoofed their brand in a YouTube commercial on EllenTube, http://ellentube.com/, entitled “Half Foods”.
Not exactly flattering but it still drew attention to the brand. I guess any
publicity is good publicity.
